About Heather

Heather is highly qualified in both fine art and teaching and has run private art classes for adults since 2010 and for children since 2015. Starting at the Spring in Havant in 2010, Heather's business has grown to incorporate independent classes at Northney Hall and short courses at West Dean College. Currently Heather is designing painting holidays for the IOW, which will be based in her bespoke artist's studio. 

Armed with strong portfolios and bags of enthusiasm, it is worth noting that a number of Heather's adult learners have progressed to fine art degree courses at Chichester University. Within schools, Heather has demonstrated strengths in enabling pupils with learning difficulties to achieve their GCSE Art, as well as stretching the gifted and talented, helping them towards achieving their potential.  Heather also teaches pupils to GCSE level privately, see example here.

 

Biography

Heather has a First Class Hons Degree in 3/D Design, developing imaginative architectural interior design through lecturers from the Architectural Association, London. Heather was credited with a Masters in Visual Art from West Dean College, (Sussex University) in 2006. In 2016, Heather gained a PGCE HE, follow later by QTLS, (Qualified Teaching and Learning Status). Heather is an affiliate  member of SET,  the 'Society of Education' and was part of a team at Mayville High School, who achieved 'EXCELLENT' across all subjects, in their 2020 Private School Inspection.

 

In 2011, Heather won the Stride Open (The Oxmarket, Chichester) and gained entry in a number of National Open Exhibitions with watercolour and mixed media pieces. Heather was part of the Unity Studio project in Chichester and has continued to work with Dr Sharon-Michi Kusunoki on a number of exquisite, private group exhibitions, aimed at children's education. Heather is a British artist, based along the south coast and her work is held within a growing number of private collections within the UK.
